Are You Drinking Yet Still Thirsty For More? (Gospel Light Minute X #386)

This is the “chief of sinners,” Daniel Whyte III, president of Gospel Light Society International, with the Gospel Light Minute X Podcast #386 titled, “Are You Drinking Yet Still Thirsty For More?” I’m here to remind you of what the Bible says, that “Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners” like you and me.

ARE YOU THIRSTY?
Have you ever been so thirsty that you can’t imagine going one more second without something to quench your thirst? All that you can think about is finding even one sip of cold, refreshing water. Our bodies crave water. In fact, the human body can only survive a few days without it.

How about your soul—is it thirsty? Do you feel that something is missing in your life? Maybe you’ve tried to fill the void by staying busy with work or friends. Perhaps you’ve sought satisfaction in buying new things. Some even try to quench their inner thirst with relationships, parties, alcohol, or drugs. WATCH: What Does the Future Hold? (Gospel Light Minute X #377)

This is the “chief of sinners,” Daniel Whyte III, president of Gospel Light Society International, with the Gospel Light Minute X Podcast #377 titled, “What Does the Future Hold?” I’m here to remind you of what the Bible says, that “Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners” like you and me.

Most people seem to think that the world is becoming, or will inevitably become, a better place in which to live. It is felt that through education, diplomacy, and scientific advances, most people will live longer, better, and more peaceful lives than any who have lived before. Is this really what’s next?

Not according to Jesus! Not long before He left this world about two thousand years ago He said, “As the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be”. There are two very important things in this statement. First, Jesus reiterates His promise to return to the world (more about this later). Second, when He comes, the condition of the world will be the same as it was in the days of Noah. What is said about the world then? We are told, “The earth was corrupt” and “filled with violence”. The headlines on the evening news and in the world’s newspapers every day show that in spite of our “advanced civilization” and modern technology, these two evils—corruption and violence—are filling the world today. How to Understand What the Purple Prince Referred to as “This Thing Called Life” (Gospel Light Minute X #368)

This is the “chief of sinners,” Daniel Whyte III, president of Gospel Light Society International, with the Gospel Light Minute X Podcast #368 titled, “How to Understand What the Purple Prince Referred to as ‘This Thing Called Life’.” I’m here to remind you of what the Bible says, that “Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners” like you and me.

We are all aware of problems in this world. Everyone knows what it is to be weary, to be disappointed, and to struggle. And we have a feeling that we were not meant for this. We are all searching for some solution to the problems of life.

The question is, why are you unhappy? Why do things go wrong? Why is there illness and sickness? Why should there be death? Those are the questions with which the Bible deals.

The Bible talks to you about your unhappiness. Some insist that the Bible, far from being practical, is really very remote from life. But nothing in the world is as practical as the teaching of the Bible.

In order to answer questions about you, the Bible starts in the most extraordinary way:

“In the beginning God…” Continue reading “How to Understand What the Purple Prince Referred to as “This Thing Called Life” (Gospel Light Minute X #368)”

God Created the World and He Created You, So He Loves You and Wants to Save You (Gospel Light Minute X #358)

This is the “chief of sinners,” Daniel Whyte III, president of Gospel Light Society International, with the Gospel Light Minute X Podcast #358 titled, “God Created the World and He Created You, So He Loves You and Wants to Save You” I’m here to remind you of what the Bible says, that “Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners” like you and me.

The Apollo 8 space mission in December, 1968, marked the first time that man had flown to the moon. While orbiting the moon, the crew made the famous “Christmas Eve broadcast,” a live television and radio event heard by an estimated one billion people. While on the air, the astronauts read part of the account of creation from Genesis chapter one. Each of the three astronauts took turns, starting with Major William Anders reading, “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.” After Captain James Lovell took his turn, Colonel Frank Borman ended with “And God saw that it was good.”

These three were the first men ever to see some of the wonders of the universe, and before a worldwide audience they gave credit to the One who made it all. He was the One who put the planets into their precise orbital motions, without which the calculations guiding the flight from the earth to the moon and back would have been impossible. In fact, Jim Lovell said of the flight to the moon: “We never really saw the moon…. By and large the body that we were rendezvousing with, that was coming from one direction as we were going to another, we never saw. And we took it on faith that the moon would be there.” Continue reading “God Created the World and He Created You, So He Loves You and Wants to Save You (Gospel Light Minute X #358)”

The Antichrist Spirit Already in the World Today (Part 2)

TEXT: 1 John 5:18-21

18 We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.

19 And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness.

20 And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.

21 Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen.

In our last message, we saw how the spirit of Satan has overwhelming influence in the world today. It is this antichrist spirit that causes many individuals, governments, and society in general to be opposed to the things of God. However, there is another spirit in the world today — the Holy Spirit — who lives inside every believer. The Bible tells us that one of the tasks of the Holy Spirit is to restrain or hold back the spirit of lawlessness and iniquity in the world. When we look at the evil in the world today, we must realize that it is not as bad as it could be. As salt and light in the world, we are a part of God’s firewall against the antichrist spirit that is in the world today. Continue reading “The Antichrist Spirit Already in the World Today (Part 2)”

The Antichrist Spirit Already in the World Today (Part 1)

End times prophecy can be roughly divided into two phases: (1) God’s dealings with Israel, and (2) God’s dealings with the Gentile nations. As you will recall, we went through a long series titled “Israel and the End Times” in which we discussed God’s plans for His chosen people. Now, we are in a series titled “God’s Plan for the Gentile Nations.” It is a long series that is divided into several smaller series. The first mini-series was “The Times of the Nations.” And, we are now in the second mini-series titled “The Ruler of the Nations.”

We know from Scripture that, in the end times, the ruler of the nations will be a man known as the antichrist. However, as we saw in previous messages, the spirit of antichrist is in the world today. Why? Because the spirit of antichrist is the spirit of Satan who opposes God and His Son, Jesus Christ. We have looked at the spirit of antichrist in the church, and now, today, we will begin looking at the spirit of antichrist in the world.

As he closes out his first letter to believers, the Apostle John, who coined the term “antichrist”, tells us about the spirit of antichrist in the world by contrasting the believers who are in Christ with the nonbelievers who are in the world. In verse 19, he says, “And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness.” He is saying that there is a difference between us and the world. We are not the same because the world “lies in wickedness.” Other translations of this verse help to paint this picture vividly. One says, “the world around us is under the control of the evil one.” Another says, “the whole world lies in the evil one.” Another says, “the whole world is under the sway of the evil one.” The literal translation of this verse reads, “the whole world lies in the lap of the wicked one.” Continue reading “LISTEN: The Antichrist Spirit Already in the World Today, Part 1”

The Dangers of Loving the World, Part 3 (Onward Christian Soldier #87)

Our key Bible passage today is 1 John 2:15: “Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.”

Our lesson today is titled “The Dangers of Loving the World, Part 3”

To keep from being deceived by Satan, we must know the truth. We must have our minds renewed so that we see things as God sees them. The Bible says, “Be not conformed to this world: but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect will of God.”

What does God want us to see concerning the world? First, God wants us to see that the world system is controlled by Satan. 1 John 5:19 says, “…the whole world lieth in wickedness” (or in the power of the wicked one). 1 John 2:16 says, “All that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.” Continue reading “The Dangers of Loving the World, Part 3 (Onward Christian Soldier #87)”

Every Christian is called to spiritual warfare! The Bible speaks of three terrible enemies that war against the Christian—the flesh, the world, and the devil. We have already considered the flesh, so in this lesson, we will study about the enemy called “the world.”

The Bible uses the word “world” in three different ways. First, it can refer to THE EARTH or the cosmos which God created. Next, it can refer to PEOPLE as in John 3:16, “For God so loved the world…” A third use is found in I John 2:15, where the child of God is warned, “Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world.” Continue reading “The Dangers of Loving the World, Part 1 (Onward Christian Soldier #85)”

TEXT: John 17:14-18

14 I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.

15 I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil.

16 They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.

17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.

18 As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world.

Walking Through Vanity Fair: the Christian and the World, Part 3 (Pilgrim’s Progress According to the Bible #34)

From this passage, which is actually part of a prayer which Jesus prayed for His disciples, we have already learned a couple of things about how we should deal with being in the world but not of the world. First, we are to abstain from the evil, the temptation, and the sin that is in the world. And, second, we ought to live like Jesus Christ in the world.

Today, I want us to recognize how that we are on a mission in the world. We are not here to just bide time until Jesus returns or until we die and go to Heaven. Each of us has been commissioned by Jesus to fulfill a specific mission. Jesus Christ prays to His Father, “As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world.” Continue reading “Walking Through Vanity Fair: the Christian and the World, Part 3 (Pilgrim’s Progress According to the Bible #34)”
