Stop Searching for Love in All the Wrong Places for Love Has Been Found (Gospel Light Minute X #387)

This is the “chief of sinners,” Daniel Whyte III, president of Gospel Light Society International, with the Gospel Light Minute X Podcast #387 titled, “Stop Searching for Love in All the Wrong Places for Love Has Been Found” I’m here to remind you of what the Bible says, that “Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners” like you and me.

Psychologists have long known that every person has two great longings and inward needs. The first is to be loved, and the second is to love. But when pressures and heartaches come into our lives, many give up any hope of ever finding love.

The tragedy is that we often look in the wrong places to fill this deep need and longing. Some substitute lust for love. Others pursue material things or superficial relationships—all in the futile attempt to fill a God-shaped vacuum in the human heart. But there is good news! There is a love worth finding and a love worth sharing. The Bible says in John 3:16, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life”. On the cross of Christ, God’s mighty love was revealed and offered unconditionally to all who would be saved.

Do you long to know this mighty love? Then I need to ask you the most important question you’ll ever be asked: Do you know beyond a shadow of a doubt that God loves you, that your sins are forgiven, and that you are saved and on your way to Heaven? LISTEN: How to Find Your Way to God (Gospel Light Minute X #378)

This is the “chief of sinners,” Daniel Whyte III, president of Gospel Light Society International, with the Gospel Light Minute X Podcast #378 titled, “How to Find Your Way to God” I’m here to remind you of what the Bible says, that “Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners” like you and me.

Over the years I have talked to thousands of people who have asked me how to find their way to God. Some have sat in church pews all their lives but never come to personally know God. Others have sought for ultimate meaning in all sorts of ways but never found the peace of mind for which they were searching. Some simply realize that there is something vital missing in their lives.

The Bible teaches that this sense of lostness is rooted in the fact that we live in a fallen world. We are all handicapped by a sin nature: The Bible says in Romans 3:23, “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God”. And despite our best efforts, we are unable to remove the haunting weight of guilt that separates us from our Creator.

God sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to solve the dilemma caused by our sin. The Bible says in John 3:16, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” Continue reading “LISTEN: How to Find Your Way to God (Gospel Light Minute X #378)”

How to Understand What the Purple Prince Referred to as “This Thing Called Life” (Gospel Light Minute X #368)

This is the “chief of sinners,” Daniel Whyte III, president of Gospel Light Society International, with the Gospel Light Minute X Podcast #368 titled, “How to Understand What the Purple Prince Referred to as ‘This Thing Called Life’.” I’m here to remind you of what the Bible says, that “Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners” like you and me.

We are all aware of problems in this world. Everyone knows what it is to be weary, to be disappointed, and to struggle. And we have a feeling that we were not meant for this. We are all searching for some solution to the problems of life.

The question is, why are you unhappy? Why do things go wrong? Why is there illness and sickness? Why should there be death? Those are the questions with which the Bible deals.

The Bible talks to you about your unhappiness. Some insist that the Bible, far from being practical, is really very remote from life. But nothing in the world is as practical as the teaching of the Bible.

In order to answer questions about you, the Bible starts in the most extraordinary way:

“In the beginning God…” Continue reading “How to Understand What the Purple Prince Referred to as “This Thing Called Life” (Gospel Light Minute X #368)”

How to Quench Your Thirst in Life (Gospel Light Minute X #360)

This is the “chief of sinners,” Daniel Whyte III, president of Gospel Light Society International, with the Gospel Light Minute X Podcast #360 titled, “How to Quench Your Thirst in Life.” I’m here to remind you of what the Bible says, that “Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners” like you and me.

Happiness, contentment, and peace of mind are the most longed-for and sought after things in all the world, and few there are who ever really find them. All around us people are searching madly for these precious treasures without success. Psychiatrists tell us that an ever-increasing number of people are aware of an inner emptiness in their lives. Their problems — personal and social — seem to increase faster than solutions can be found to solve them.

Is this all simply evidence of the emptiness of those who try to live without God? Man’s struggle for wealth, fame, and pleasure will not bring him the contentment and happiness that he yearns for. Yet, with a restlessness that is pitiful to see, people are searching from one thing to another, always hoping to find rest and satisfaction in some future accomplishment or possession. GLMX #255: So, What Are You Searching for On the Internet Late at Night?

internet-search

Recently, the internet search giant Google released data on what Americans are up searching for late at night. Perhaps surprising to some and shocking to others, the most popular search terms for late night internet users revolve around pornography, suicide, and loneliness. Another interesting search trend is that people who are up very early — between the hours of 2 and 4 am — are searching for answers to big questions such as: What is the meaning of life? Is there a God? What is the meaning of consciousness? Does free will exist? And is there life on other planets?

This interesting data sheds light on the psyche of our nation. It also sheds light on a common human activity: at some point in life, everybody finds himself or herself searching for something and/or asking the big questions of life. When we are young, we search for meaning and purpose. We search for the perfect job or the right occupation that will make us feel fulfilled. We search for a husband or wife to spend our lives with. We search for the best college or university to attend. We search for advice that will help us live a healthy and long life.

Ultimately, we are all searching for something that we can rely on, something that’s constant, and something that will guide us through life. I can honestly tell you that all of those things can be found in Jesus Christ. Continue reading “GLMX #255: So, What Are You Searching for On the Internet Late at Night?”
