How to be Permanently Joyful Despite the Pain and Problems of Life (Gospel Light Minute X #400)

This is the “chief of sinners,” Daniel Whyte III, president of Gospel Light Society International, with the Gospel Light Minute X Podcast #400 titled, “How to be Permanently Joyful Despite the Pain and Problems of Life.” I’m here to remind you of what the Bible says, that “Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners” like you and me.

Pharrell’s famous song “Happy” may give you a feeling of momentary happiness while you are listening to it, but it will not keep you happy. For most people happiness depends on the happenings.

Are you a happy person? Fear and the guilt of sin can take away your happiness. You may wonder, “How can I be permanently happy? or, how can I be permanently cheerful and joyful?” The Holy Bible has a lot to say about having permanent joyfulness and cheerfulness even in the midst of pain and problems. The Only Path to Peace and Paradise (Gospel Light Minute X #398)

This is the “chief of sinners,” Daniel Whyte III, president of Gospel Light Society International, with the Gospel Light Minute X Podcast #398 titled, “The Only Path to Peace and Paradise.” I’m here to remind you of what the Bible says, that “Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners” like you and me.

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” — John 3:16

John 3:16 is often called “The Gospel Text,” for here we have the whole Gospel briefly stated. We see the source of salvation—the love of God; the channel through which salvation comes—His only begotten Son; and the way by which we receive it—faith in His Son.

Perhaps you will say, “Oh, I have read that verse a thousand times.” Even if you have, have you ever really believed it—that is, by faith made yourself one of the “whosoevers” by trusting in Christ, and thereby received everlasting life?

A Christian friend told me how he was converted through this verse. He took it, read it word by word, believing as he read, applied it to himself, trusted the Son, and received everlasting life. Multitudes of other searching souls have done the same. Have you? If not, may the Lord help you to do so now.

Just let us look at this wonderful verse, a word or two at a time, always remembering that this is God’s Word, and God means what He says. Continue reading “The Only Path to Peace and Paradise (Gospel Light Minute X #398)”

How to Get Your Greatest Need in Life Met Today (Gospel Light Minute X #397)

This is the “chief of sinners,” Daniel Whyte III, president of Gospel Light Society International, with the Gospel Light Minute X Podcast #397 titled, “How to Get Your Greatest Need in Life Met Today.” I’m here to remind you of what the Bible says, that “Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners” like you and me.

MAN’S GREATEST NEED

Sin has separated man from God. To be separated from God at death means to spend eternity in Hell, because God will not excuse sin, and sin must be punished. Man is sinful, but God is holy. The Blood of Jesus Christ is God’s way of meeting man’s greatest need.

GOD’S GREATEST SACRIFICE

God sent His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, to die on the cross as the payment for your sins: Romans 3:25 says, “Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood…” Notice that it was God’s plan, not man’s: “Whom God hath sent forth…” Secondly, notice that Christ died to pay for our sins: “…to be a propitiation…” Finally, this verse states that forgiveness is obtained simply by trusting what Jesus has done: “…through faith in his blood…” Because of the Blood, God can show mercy to sinners, yet still remain holy and just. “…that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.” Continue reading “How to Get Your Greatest Need in Life Met Today (Gospel Light Minute X #397)”

It Is Time for You to Meet the Greatest Friend of All Time (Gospel Light Minute X #391)

This is the “chief of sinners,” Daniel Whyte III, president of Gospel Light Society International, with the Gospel Light Minute X Podcast #391 titled, “It Is Time for You to Meet the Greatest Friend of All Time” I’m here to remind you of what the Bible says, that “Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners” like you and me.

Joseph Scriven wrote:

What a Friend we have in Jesus,
All our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry
Everything to God in prayer.
O, what peace we often forfeit
O, what needless pain we bear—
All because we do not carry
Everything to God in prayer.

The man who wrote this nineteenth-century hymn was familiar with grief and loneliness. Scriven was engaged twice, and both times his bride-to-be died before the wedding. He fought depression all his life. It was after one bout with depression that he wrote the words to this song.

He could write those words because he had discovered the reality of friendship with Jesus Christ. Jesus understands our feelings because He lived on earth as a man. Jesus knows what it is like to be lonely. He suffered the pain of rejection and cruelty, and he felt hunger and thirst. The Bible describes Him as “a Man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief”.

Yet Jesus did more than just sympathize with our troubles. The Bible says that “all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God”, and that “the wages of sin is death”. But God transferred our sin to Jesus Christ, His sinless Son, to make us right with God. Continue reading “It Is Time for You to Meet the Greatest Friend of All Time (Gospel Light Minute X #391)”

You May be a Faithful Member of a Church, But on Your Way to Hell (Gospel Light Minute X #384 with Daniel Whyte III)

This is the “chief of sinners,” Daniel Whyte III, president of Gospel Light Society International, with the Gospel Light Minute X Podcast #384 titled, “You May be a Faithful Member of a Church, But on Your Way to Hell.” I’m here to remind you of what the Bible says, that “Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners” like you and me.

How clear and concise: there should be neither confusion nor contradiction. There are many names under Heaven in which we can find religion; but salvation can be found in One only. The Bible says in Romans 3:23, “For all have sinned…” So, all need a Saviour; Romans 6:23 says, “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” At Calvary, Jesus paid sin’s awful penalty for all who accept Him; but His death there was not to give men a religion; it was to provide Salvation through redemption.

There is no salvation in priests, penance or prayers; but only in Jesus Christ. Service and sacraments, churches and charities, tears and treasures, ritual and reformation — ALL are alike, helpless to save.

Men are willing to give assent in their heads to the claims of Christianity while refusing to accept in their hearts the Christ of Christianity, Jesus.

Men are willing to take the high place in the work and rituals of the church while refusing to take the low place of guilty sinners needing a sinner’s Saviour, Jesus.

Men are willing to believe in the moral precepts of God’s Word, as based on the Ten Commandments while refusing to believe in, rest on, and receive God’s Son, Jesus Christ, as Saviour of their souls, because of His finished work in their behalf at Calvary. DOGS CAN DO REMARKABLE THINGS!

One breed in particular, the St. Bernard, is known for saving lives. In the rugged, snow-covered mountains of the Alps, St. Bernards were ideal for rescue work because they could clear paths, predict incoming avalanches, and detect injured people buried beneath the snow. Jesus Knows All About Your Troubles and Problems, So Come to Him Today (Gospel Light Minute X #374)

LIFE IS HARD. Jesus knows that. He is God’s Son and He left heaven to rescue you. As a man He endured all the hardships common to humanity. Although He never sinned, He endured pain, loneliness, rejection and death. At the end of His ministry, He offered Himself as a sacrifice and died on the cross to atone, once and for all, for the sins of humanity. God raised Him from the grave and Jesus now reigns in Heaven. He is alive. And He cares for you. Continue reading “Jesus Knows All About Your Troubles and Problems, So Come to Him Today (Gospel Light Minute X #374)”

Where Do You Think You Are Going? (Gospel Light Minute X #372)

This is the “chief of sinners,” Daniel Whyte III, president of Gospel Light Society International, with the Gospel Light Minute X Podcast #372 titled, “Where Do You Think You Are Going?” I’m here to remind you of what the Bible says, that “Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners” like you and me.

If you’re like me, there’s nothing better after a busy day than settling into a favorite chair and just sitting still. But did you know that even while sitting still, we are still traveling thousands of miles per hour? Because of the earth’s rotation and its movement within the solar system and galaxy, we are hurtling through space at unimaginable speeds.

It’s amazing that we can be moving at such a high rate of speed and not be aware of it. But, in the same way, there are many people today who are speeding through life unaffected by how quickly they are approaching eternity.

Though we are all traveling through time and space together, there are different destinies in eternity. Where will you spend eternity—in Heaven or in Hell? Just think of being in an everlasting place of perfect happiness, or in a never-ending place of pure woe. You will be in one of these forever. Continue reading “Where Do You Think You Are Going? How to Understand What the Purple Prince Referred to as “This Thing Called Life” (Gospel Light Minute X #368)

This is the “chief of sinners,” Daniel Whyte III, president of Gospel Light Society International, with the Gospel Light Minute X Podcast #368 titled, “How to Understand What the Purple Prince Referred to as ‘This Thing Called Life’.” I’m here to remind you of what the Bible says, that “Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners” like you and me.

We are all aware of problems in this world. Everyone knows what it is to be weary, to be disappointed, and to struggle. And we have a feeling that we were not meant for this. We are all searching for some solution to the problems of life.

The question is, why are you unhappy? Why do things go wrong? Why is there illness and sickness? Why should there be death? Those are the questions with which the Bible deals.

The Bible talks to you about your unhappiness. Some insist that the Bible, far from being practical, is really very remote from life. But nothing in the world is as practical as the teaching of the Bible.

In order to answer questions about you, the Bible starts in the most extraordinary way:

“In the beginning God…” Continue reading “How to Understand What the Purple Prince Referred to as “This Thing Called Life” (Gospel Light Minute X #368)”

The Only Way to Get to Heaven (Gospel Light Minute X #367)

This is the “chief of sinners,” Daniel Whyte III, president of Gospel Light Society International, with the Gospel Light Minute X Podcast #367 titled, “The Only Way to Get to Heaven.” I’m here to remind you of what the Bible says, that “Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners” like you and me.

“My father was a wise man and he always explained it like this,” my friend began. I had just finished sharing the way to Heaven with him, but it was clear that the philosophies of his father were deeply embedded in his mind. Unfortunately, those thoughts were not according to divine truth.

He went on: “My father said that going to Heaven is like going to New York: there are many ways to get there, and it doesn’t really matter which one you take. As long as you sincerely follow the way you believe, it will get you there.”

“You are right,” I quickly replied, “about going to New York, but you are completely wrong about going to Heaven. The only map to Heaven, the Bible, clearly presents only one way to get there. Jesus says, “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by Me” It is not true that there are many ways and He is just one of them. Nor is it true that Jesus plus something else is the way to Heaven. Continue reading “The Only Way to Get to Heaven (Gospel Light Minute X #367)”
