The Second Coming of Christ, Part 10 (Second Coming Chapel)

Honoring and giving glory to God and Jesus Christ, and remembering their servant Billy Graham by preaching an adaptation of one of his powerful messages.

TEXT: Matthew 24:1-8:

1 And Jesus went out, and departed from the temple: and his disciples came to him for to shew him the buildings of the temple.

2 And Jesus said unto them, See ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.

3 And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?

4 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.

5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.

6 And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.

7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.

8 All these are the beginning of sorrows.

——

One time I was watching a checker game between two friends of mine. Both of them were excellent checker players. I saw one of them make a move that I thought was very foolish. Then he made another foolish move, and I thought he was going to lose the game. He lost two pieces. But all of a sudden I saw the plan that he had: He jumped three of his opponent’s pieces, put his piece on king’s row, crowned him, came back, swept the board, and won the game.

In the history of the world, God said to Hitler, “Make your move.” “Mussolini, make yours.” “Napoleon, make yours.” “Stalin, make yours.” “Khrushchev, make yours.” “Devil [Satan, that arch enemy of mankind, that enemy of God], make your move.” And the devil today is making his great, grand move.

But, one day, God, by divine intervention and divine action in the coming of His Son, is going to snap history in two. The climactic point of history will be reached. God is going to crown Jesus King of kings and Lord of it all. There will be a coronation in the sky. What a moment that is going to be! All of those who believe will be there in our white robes, and the orchestras of heaven are going to play. The choirs are going to sing; the angels will furnish the music. What a moment that is going to be. The stars will sing together, and our ears will be attuned to the songs of the universe.

And then, as someone has written, the angels will fold their wings. They will sit down, and then we are going to sing. We’ll sing redemption’s grand theme song, “Saved, saved by the blood of the crucified One.” The angels can’t join us because they never knew the joy that our salvation brings.

There is one basic thing taught in the 24th and 25th chapters of Matthew that we must take heed to: Be ready! We are to be prepared for Jesus’ return. Jesus said, “Be ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.” I want to ask you today: Are you ready? If you are not ready to meet Christ, you better get ready today. You can get ready by repenting of your sins and receiving Christ. It’s a very simple act. It’s a sincere act by which you present yourself to Jesus Christ and say, “Lord, from this moment on I’m yours. I want to receive you, I want to follow you, I want to live for you. I want to be numbered among the blood-bought throng. I want to come to Your cross so that I can go to Your coronation.” Only those who have come to His cross where He died for sin are going to be able to go to His coronation up yonder and receive a crown. Will you come today? If so, take heed to the following:

First, accept the fact that you are a sinner, and that you have broken God’s law. The Bible says in Romans 3:23: “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.”

Second, accept the fact that there is a penalty for sin. The Bible states in Romans 6:23: “For the wages of sin is death…”

Third, accept the fact that you are on the road to hell. Jesus Christ said in Matthew 10:28: “And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.” Also, the Bible states in Revelation 21:8: “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.”

Now that is bad news, but here’s the good news. Jesus Christ said in John 3:16: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” Just believe in your heart that Jesus Christ died for your sins, was buried, and rose from the dead by the power of God for you so that you can live eternally with Him. Pray and ask Him to come into your heart today, and He will.

Romans 10:9 & 13 says, “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved… For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

If you believe that Jesus Christ died on the Cross for your sins, was buried, and rose from the dead, and you want to trust Him for your Salvation today, please pray with me this simple prayer: Holy Father God, I realize that I am a sinner and that I have done some bad things in my life. I am sorry for my sins, and today I choose to turn from my sins. For Jesus Christ sake, please forgive me of my sins. I believe with all of my heart that Jesus Christ died for me, was buried, and rose again. I trust Jesus Christ as my Savior and I choose to follow Him as Lord from this day forward. Lord Jesus, please come into my heart and save my soul and change my life today. Amen.

If you just trusted Jesus Christ as your Saviour, and you prayed that prayer and meant it from your heart, I declare to you that based upon the Word of God, you are now saved from Hell and you are on your way to Heaven. The World’s Darkest Hour, Part 8 (Just Jesus Evangelistic Campaign, Day 454 since Jan. 20, 2017 / Day 821 since Jan. 1, 2016)

Honoring and giving glory to God and Jesus Christ, and remembering their servant Billy Graham by preaching an adaptation of one of his powerful messages.

TEXT: Matthew 26:36-39:

36 Then cometh Jesus with them unto a place called Gethsemane, and saith unto the disciples, Sit ye here, while I go and pray yonder.

37 And he took with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and began to be sorrowful and very heavy.

38 Then saith he unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death: tarry ye here, and watch with me.

39 And he went a little farther, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.

———-

Jesus suffered greatly in the process of His crucifixion. First, He suffered tremendous physical pain. He was beaten, spit on, and whipped before being taken to the cross. Then, He suffered tremendous loneliness — not only the loneliness of solitude and abandonment in that hour, but throughout His life on this earth, he experienced the loneliness of sorrow, the loneliness of character, and finally, on the cross, He experienced the loneliness of sin. Third, He experienced tremendous mental anguish. Just the thought of what He had been sent to do prompted great drops of blood to roll like sweat from His brow.

Then, fourth, as we saw last week, Jesus experienced tremendous anguish of soul. The physical pain, the loneliness of its shame, and the mental anguish was nothing compared to the spiritual suffering which Jesus Christ suffered on the cross that day. The Bible says He was “made to be sin for us, who knew no sin.” He had never known sin, but He was made to be sin. How Jesus must have looked ahead with horror. He said, “O God, if it is possible, let this cup pass from me. O God, I don’t want to have to drink this cup. If there is any other way to save men, if there is any other way for the world to be saved, let it be done.” But there was no other way.

When I look at the cross tonight, I see three things.

First, I see the terribleness of sin. I know that I am a sinner. When I look at Christ dying in my place on the cross and realize the things that I have done and that it was my sins that nailed Him there, I must cry out to God, “O God, I am a sinner.”

The second thing I see is the amazing love of God, that “God commended his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” You have rebelled against God, you have sinned against God, you have done things that you know you should not have done. You have helped crucify Jesus. But in spite of it, God loves you.

And on the cross there is written in gigantic letters in neon fire, “God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” There is the love of God. And if you have any doubt concerning the love of God, look at the cross. It was there that He died for us.

Third, in that cross, I find my complete redemption. Christ bowed His head and said, “It is finished.” I cannot add anything to it. I cannot take anything away. If I am ever to get to Heaven, I will have to come to the cross. If I am ever to have my sins forgiven, I will have to come to the cross.

Have you ever been to the cross? Are you sure that you have had an encounter with God at the cross? It doesn’t make any difference where you come from or what your nationality is, what state you live in, how rich or how poor, how educated or uneducated, you have to come to the cross. Jesus said it’s a narrow gate, and the gate is the cross. If you are not sure that you have been there, renouncing your sin and receiving Christ, you come right now. There is no other way. There is only one way of forgiveness and redemption and salvation, and that is the cross of Christ.

If I could tell you another way of salvation that is easier, I would tell you. But, I tell you after studying the Bible for twenty years, there is no other name given among men whereby we must be saved except the name of Jesus. There is no other way of salvation except at the foot of the cross.

Come to the cross today. Come by faith and say, “O God, I have sinned. O God, I am sorry for the things I have done. I am coming by faith to receive thy Son, Jesus Christ. Amen.”

If you believed in your heart that Jesus Christ died on the Cross, was buried, and rose again, allow me to say, congratulations on doing the most important thing in life and that is accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour! 7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.

8 All these are the beginning of sorrows.

——

Jesus gave His disciples several signs which would inform them that the time of His Second Coming was near. As we look at our world today, it appears that these signs are playing out all around us. The first sign is the revival of religion. The second is wars and rumors of wars. The third is an increase in violence and hatred.

Then, fourthly, Jesus said in Matthew 24:37, “As in the days of Noah, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.” What were they doing in the days of Noah? They were eating and drinking and making merry. In the days of Noah, they were not against God, they were not antagonistic to God, they did not hate God. They were religious; they believed in God. But they just did not have time for God. They were too busy with their eating and drinking and making merry. They were too busy with their work. They were too busy with their pleasure. They were too busy with their own selfishness to give any time to God at all. They were marrying and giving in marriage. They were divorcing and remarrying.

Statistics say that half of all marriages in America end up in the divorce court. Jesus indicated that there would be a tremendous increase in immorality. We have gotten to the place that if some actress has had three or four husbands she can attract more people at the box office. I don’t blame the actress so much. I blame the people. The morals of people have gotten so low that they are buying filthy literature. Don’t blame the man who is publishing it. Blame the people who buy it. We are in a position today where a man can commit immorality and people don’t even think anything about it. They just accept it.

Dr. Sorokin, the head sociologist of Harvard University, wrote a book that everybody, every American, ought to read. It is titled, “The American Sex Revolution.” Dr. Sorokin says it is the greatest revolution in history; and he says that this revolution is going to defeat us. Jesus said this acceptance of immorality is a sign that the end is near. Immorality is sin, and sin comes with consequences — both in this life and in the next life. Many people today are realizing that their sexual immorality is bad for them. They are wondering how they can escape the power of their sin.

The only way that man can be saved from sin — sexual sin or any other sin — and the punishment of sin is through Jesus Christ, through placing your faith and trust in Him and Him alone. If you do not know Jesus Christ as your Savior, you are not ready for His Second Coming. Allow me to show you how you can receive Christ as Savior today.

Is There An Answer? Part 2 (Just Jesus Evangelistic Campaign, Day 442 since Jan. 20, 2017 / Day 809 since Jan. 1, 2016)

Honoring and giving glory to God and Jesus Christ, and remembering their servant Billy Graham by preaching an adaptation of one of his powerful messages.

TEXT: John 3:1-7:

1 There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews:

2 The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him.

3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

4 Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother’s womb, and be born?

5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.

———-

Jesus tells us that the answer to the world’s problems is that man must be born again. When Nicodemus heard these words, he asked Jesus, “How can these things be?” Many have asked a similar question when confronted with this answer. When I first heard it, I laughed, as some of you are smiling inside right now, although I knew that human nature needed a transformation.

The necessity of the rebirth was taught by John Wesley and George Whitefield, and it led Britain into a religious revival which almost all historians agree saved that country from a bloody revolution such as France was having at the time. It was Jesus’ words that Whitefield and Wesley used over and over again: “Ye must be born again.” What was meant by that?

When I heard it, I laughed. I said it couldn’t happen. Then one day I said, “I am going to give it a try.” So one night, without emotion — it is not an emotional experience, though it can be — very calmly and very quietly, I said, “All right, God, I am going to give You a try. I am going to do what You said to do. I am going to tell You I am willing. I don’t have the strength, but I am willing to turn from my sins, and I am really ready to open my heart to You.”

When I did that, something happened in my life. I can’t explain it to you, I can’t analyze it, I can’t put it in a test tube. But I will give you one illustration. I come from a part of the country where men look with bias on those who have a different colored skin than they have, and there is discrimination. When I received Christ, I began to look through different eyes at men of different races. The color was gone. I saw them as one of God’s creatures, no matter what color skin or shape of nose he had. The racial prejudice was gone. I began to love instead of being prejudiced.

My life was changed. It didn’t become perfect, and it is not perfect today. But I realized I had a new strength, a new power, and a new dynamic for living that gave me the ability to say “no” to temptations that normally come. I had found a new source of life. It wasn’t the type of religion that gives one a long face and droopy shoulders. It put a smile on my face, it gave me a spring in my step, a joy in my soul, and the happiness and peace I had longed for and looked for. What Jesus did for me, He can do for you. But, you must obey His words, “Ye must be born again.”

If you do not know Jesus Christ as your Savior, allow me to show you how you can place your faith and trust in Him for Salvation from sin and Hell.

First, accept the fact that you are a sinner, and that you have broken God’s law. The Bible says in Romans 3:23: “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.”

———-

Arnold Toynbee, the great British historian, as he observed the great dilemmas of the world, said that only a revival of Christianity could answer the world’s great problems. If this is true, then I say to you today that you and I, as ordinary citizens, had better be about it! It is the only way out of the world’s dilemma. And if the only way for the next generation to survive is through a revival of Christianity, we had better be about it in every way we can.

But there is another reason why we ought to be about it, and that is because you and I have everlasting souls that are accountable to Almighty God. If you are to find peace for the rest of the days of your life, and peace in those last moments before you stand before your Maker, you had better do something about it!

There was a Man who came along two thousand years ago and said: “I have the answer.” He gave to us in the Sermon on the Mount the greatest moral and social document the world has ever known, but we have never been able to live up to it. Oh, we have tried, but we have failed. Why? Because we find no strength within ourselves to live up to it. When you want to do good, you do bad; and there is something that seems to pull you down all the time and makes you do the things you really don’t want to do.

How can we overcome this? What is the answer? This Man who was born a man, but was the God-Man, walking in human flesh, said, “Ye must be born again.” That is a strange statement. He said it to an educated man, to an intellectual. He said it to a great leader. He told Nicodemus: “Ye must be born again.” In other words, He was saying that the answer is a renaissance, a turn-about, a complete change in human nature.

You find lying, cheating, bigotry, greed, hatred, and immorality wherever you go. I dare you to go to any place in the world and not find these things. You can’t! It is a disease of human nature, and the Bible calls it sin. Jesus Christ said that a man must be born again, He must have a change of his nature, He must be transformed in order to overcome this disease of sin. And what’s more? Jesus said that He was the means by which man can be born again.

You say, “Well, that is too simple.” I know it sounds simple, and it also sounds illogical, and it may not be very academic. In fact, that was Nicodemus’ response to Jesus. He said, “How can these things be?” Jesus answered, “Marvel not, Nicodemus, you will never understand it, but ye must be born again.” The Bible promises that if we receive Christ into our hearts as Saviour, Lord, and Master, our lives will be changed and transformed. This transformation is the answer to the world’s problems. It is the answer to your problems. Will you act on this answer today?

If you do not know Jesus Christ as your Savior, allow me to show you how you can place your faith and trust in Him for Salvation from sin and Hell.

First, accept the fact that you are a sinner, and that you have broken God’s law. The Bible says in Romans 3:23: “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.”

The World’s Darkest Hour, Part 6 (Just Jesus Evangelistic Campaign, Day 440 since Jan. 20, 2017 / Day 807 since Jan.

The third element in the bitter cup that Jesus had to drink was tremendous mental anguish. Jesus had previously quoted the prophet Isaiah. He knew He had to suffer. He knew something about the affliction of the day of His crucifixion and the night prior to it in the garden. He knew what was going to take place, and, naturally, He was suffering much anguish as He thought about that suffering.

Millions of people around the world are suffering mentally. Millions have psychological problems. Thousands are in mental institutions. Thousands of people today are confused in their minds. I want to tell you that Jesus can touch your mind if you will let Him come in. Many of our mental problems are the result of spiritual separation from God, or the result of idolatry — setting up someone or something else as god. Mental unbalance, many times, is the result of putting other things before God.

Wherever you are, thousands of people are suffering mental anguish. It is not just an American problem. It is a world problem. It is the problem on Cyprus, it is the problem in the Middle East, it is the problem in New York, it is the problem in Chicago, it is the problem in the Far East, it is the problem in India. Thousands of people are searching their souls. Their minds are tortured and bewildered, wondering what is the right thing to do in a complicated situation.

I tell you Christ, is the answer. Come to Christ. Come to the foot of the cross and let Him touch your mind and your heart. Let Him relax your soul. Only when Christ touches the minds of men will we have love for our fellow man, as love knows no bounds, and we shall love our neighbours as ourselves. Would to God that all of us could come to the cross and see in Christ a solution to all the problems that bewilder us and confuse us. Mental anguish may not be your problem right now. There may be some other problem in your life, but you still need Jesus. You need Christ. The country needs Christ. The world needs Christ.

Amen.

The Second Coming of Christ, Part 3 (Second Coming Chapel)

Honoring and remembering God, Jesus Christ, and their servant Billy Graham by preaching an adaptation of one of his powerful messages.

TEXT: Matthew 24:1-5:

——

Jesus informed us that there would be certain signs that would lead us to believe that His second coming is drawing near. I believe we are seeing some of these signs today indicating that the climactic point of history is about to be reached.

The first sign He mentioned in Matthew 24 saying, “Many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.” I take that to mean that there will be a resurgence of interest in religion all over the world, and we are certainly seeing that today. I doubt if there has ever been a time when there has been such a revival of religion as we are seeing today. All over the world, men are speculating. All over the world, they are talking about God. They are talking about religion because the world sees the hopelessness that we are in. So, we have a revival of religion, but that does not mean that we have a revival of true religion.

In Christendom today, all over the world, in every church, there is the church within the church. There is usually a minority of people that do the work in every church. They are the people the pastor can count on all the time — the ones that tithe, the ones that are there rain or shine, the little crowd that is there at the prayer meeting. Sure, on Sunday morning, everybody is there. But there is a faithful number that truly believe; there is a group that is born again by the Spirit of God; and nobody knows who they are. Within the church, the wheat and the tares grow together.

That’s the reason there is no such thing as a perfect church. I know a lot of people that jump here and jump there, looking for a perfect church. They’ll never find it. If you found a perfect church, the moment you joined it, it would be imperfect. None of us is perfect. The wheat and the tares grow side by side.

I know people who carry their Bibles with them. They can quote you one verse after another. They are orthodox to the core, but it is questionable if they have ever been born again of the Holy Spirit. They have become cold, hard, and callous, like the Pharisees. There is no warmth; there is no love.

We have others today who give intellectual assent to Christ. They believe in the Bible, yet they have never had a personal experience with Christ. Their lives have never been transformed. Their talk, their conversation, and their thoughts are entirely on the things of the world. They give themselves to pleasure and to business, and have little time for Christ. They want to be a Christian as long as it’s not too inconvenient. If it is going to cost them anything, they don’t want to pay the price.

This revival of religion — false religion, without true faith in Christ — is a sign of the end times. Religion won’t save the world; and religion won’t save you. Salvation only comes through Jesus Christ, through placing your faith and trust in Him for deliverance from sin and the consequences of sin. If you do not know Jesus Christ as your Savior, you are woefully unprepared for His Second Coming. Allow me to show you how you can receive Christ as Savior today.

First, accept the fact that you are a sinner, and that you have broken God’s law. The Bible says in Romans 3:23: “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.”

If you just trusted Jesus Christ as your Saviour, and you prayed that prayer and meant it from your heart, I declare to you that based upon the Word of God, you are now saved from Hell and you are on your way to Heaven.
