This is a One-Way Street (Gospel Light Minute X #362)

This is the “chief of sinners,” Daniel Whyte III, president of Gospel Light Society International, with the Gospel Light Minute X Podcast #362 titled, “This is a One-Way Street .” I’m here to remind you of what the Bible says, that “Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners” like you and me.

The Word of God, the Bible, tells you that God knows all about you. He knows where you live, He knows your name, He even knows the thoughts and the secrets of your heart. “The Lord looketh on the heart.”

Yes, God knows all about you. He knows the good and bad things in your life. All the bad things are sin. To disobey is to sin. No one has to tell us how to be bad, we just are bad. The Word of God says in Romans 3:23, “…All have sinned, and come short of the glory of God”. You see, you are a sinner and God says in Romans 6:23, “The wages of sin is death”. This death means to be separated from God and suffer in Hell for ever and ever.

Is there anything you can do to get rid of your sin by yourself? God says in Ephesians 2:8-9, “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast”. There is only one way to be saved, one way to have your sins forgiven.

The Bible tells us what that way is in John 3:16: “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life”.

What does that mean? “For God so loved the world.” “The world” includes you. Put your name in the blank. “For God so loved _______________ that He gave His only begotten Son.” The Lord Jesus Christ is God’s Son. Jesus came from His home in Heaven to this earth to be born, grow up, and then to die on the cross to take your place so you would not have to suffer the punishment for your sin. Jesus was totally without sin so He is the only one who could ever take your place.

“That whosoever believeth in Him.” “Whosoever” includes you. If you admit before God that you are a sinner and believe that Jesus died to take your sins away, God will cleanse your heart from sin and make you His child. John 1:12 says, “But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name:” To believe is to receive Jesus, to accept Him as your Savior and trust Him with all your heart.

“Should not perish but have everlasting life.” When you repent (admit you’ve been going the wrong way) and receive Jesus as your Savior, you will become a child of God. Your sin will be forgiven, and you will live forever in Heaven. Jesus Christ said in John 10:28, “I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish”.

Why not receive Him right now? From your heart, in your own words, tell God that you know you are a sinner and you believe that Jesus died for you and rose again. Trust Jesus to be your Savior and to wash your heart clean from sin. He will hear you and save you.

When you become a child of God, you are a “new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new”. You have new desires. You will want to know more about Him, please Him, and tell others about Him.

You can know more about God by reading His Word, the Bible. You can share your joys and problems with Him in prayer. You can grow and serve by joining with other believers in a local church. You can find someone and tell them about the Lord Jesus Christ and how He gave you a clean heart. This is the way to become a strong Christian.

Yes, there is only one way to be saved. The Bible says, “There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death”. The Bible also says in John 14:5-6, “How can we know the way? Jesus saith…I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” Which way are you on—the way of eternal death or life?

If you are willing to trust Jesus Christ with all of your heart so you can go to Heaven, please pray with me what is called the sinner’s prayer: Holy Father God, I acknowledge that I am a sinner and I admit that I have sinned against You and that I have broken Your Ten Commandments. I have lied before. I have stolen things before. I have lusted after people and things before. I have dishonored and disobeyed my parents. I have taken Your holy Name in vain. For Jesus Christ’s sake, please have mercy and grace upon my soul and forgive me of all of my sins, my failures, and my faults. As I now believe in Your Holy Son the Lord Jesus Christ. I believe that He suffered, bled, and died on the cross for my sins, was buried and rose again. Lord Jesus, please come into my heart and save my soul and change my life. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit and help me to repent of my sins past. Help me to turn from my old, evil life and follow You in the new life. For it is in Your Name I pray. Amen.
