Matthew 22:36-39: “Master, which is the great commandment in the law? Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.”

Matthew 28:19-20: “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”

Luke 18:1: And he [Jesus] spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint.”

1 Thessalonians 5:17: “Pray without ceasing.”

Ephesians 6:18: “Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints.”

Matthew 4:17: “From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”

1 John 1:9: “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

Mark 8:36: “For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?”

In this series, we have talked about the importance of the greatest commandments — loving God and loving our neighbors, the importance of obeying the Great Commission, and the importance of praying without ceasing. The fourth important thing that the church must do is confess and repent of sin.

Regarding Matthew 4:17, David Guzik said, “One might say that preaching was the main occupation of Jesus. He did heal and minister to many miraculously; but on the whole, it seems fair to say that Jesus was a preacher and teacher who healed, more than He was a healer who also preached and taught. This is the priority of Jesus’ ministry as stated in Matthew 4:23. ‘The word preach in Greek is ‘ke-russ-ein,’ which is the word for a herald’s proclamation from a king. ‘Kerux’ is the Greek word for ‘herald,’ and the herald was the man who brought a message direct from the king.’ The gospel Jesus preached began at the same place where the gospel John preached began — with a call to repentance. In fact, since Jesus waited until John had been put in prison, He probably saw Himself as picking up where John left off. But Jesus would go further than John ever did, because John announced the coming of the Messiah, and Jesus is the Messiah who marked the coming of the kingdom of heaven.”

Even though we recognize that the color line is still a problem, allow me to cast a new vision for the 21st century that is more hopeful and that offers a solution to the problem of the color line because it is Christ-centered and Gospel mission-focused. Now let me help you here: I believe that black and white Christians are leaders of not only America, but the world. I firmly believe that what we do together matters and that the way America goes, so goes the world. I believe that if we as black and white Christians would find our souls again by getting our hearts right with God, by humbling ourselves, praying, seeking God’s face, turning from our wicked ways, and getting back to our first love, who, by the way, is Jesus Christ, then God will hear our hearts and our prayers and heal our lives and our land.

The black and white church needs to cease talking about being reconciled when we have never been “conciled” in the first place. And the church needs to cease talking about race like it is the only sin in the church. In fact, if a person has not been called by God to deal with the sin of racism as Martin Luther King, Jr. was called to do, we need to get off of dealing with the issue of the color line altogether and deal with the four-pronged mission of the church, and that is to confess and repent of our sins, love all people, witness to all people, and pray for all people.

For the problem of the 21st century is that we are still talking about the color line and not what Jesus Christ did on the cross in the fullness of time.

As you may know, this poor preacher preached the Gospel for 367 days straight during the tumultuous 2016 presidential campaign. I also preached the Gospel for 100 days straight in between Barack Obama’s two terms as president in 2012. The campaign is called the “Just Jesus Evangelistic Campaign.” Since that time, I have continued preaching the Gospel nearly every day—totaling now over 1,000 Gospel, Christ-centered messages—throughout the Trump years as a symbol to the church on how we need to get back to the main thing, and that we need to keep the main thing the main thing which is to love all people, witness to all people, pray for all people, and keep ourselves unspotted from the world by confessing sin daily and repenting of sin.

If you are a Christian listening today, here are three things you need to do:

1. Confess and repent of your own sins. You already know what they are.

2. Pray for your brothers and sisters in Christ to repent of their sins and get back to their first love

3. Pray for souls to be saved, and do your part by witnessing to the lost.

Now, if you are with us today and you do not know Jesus Christ as your Savior, allow me to show you how you can place your faith and trust in Him for Salvation from sin and Hell.

First, accept the fact that you are a sinner, and that you have broken God’s law. The Bible says in Romans 3:23: “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.”

Second, accept the fact that there is a penalty for sin. The Bible states in Romans 6:23: “For the wages of sin is death…”

Third, accept the fact that you are on the road to hell. Jesus Christ said in Matthew 10:28: “And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.” Also, the Bible states in Revelation 21:8: “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.”

Now that is bad news, but here’s the good news. Jesus Christ said in John 3:16: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” Just believe in your heart that Jesus Christ died for your sins, was buried, and rose from the dead by the power of God for you so that you can live eternally with Him. Pray and ask Him to come into your heart today, and He will.

Romans 10:9 & 13 says, “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved… For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

If you believe that Jesus Christ died on the Cross for your sins, was buried, and rose from the dead, and you want to trust Him for your Salvation today, please pray with me this simple prayer: Holy Father God, I realize that I am a sinner and that I have done some bad things in my life. I am sorry for my sins, and today I choose to turn from my sins. For Jesus Christ sake, please forgive me of my sins. I believe with all of my heart that Jesus Christ died for me, was buried, and rose again. I trust Jesus Christ as my Savior and I choose to follow Him as Lord from this day forward. Lord Jesus, please come into my heart and save my soul and change my life today. Amen.

If you believed in your heart that Jesus Christ died on the Cross, was buried, and rose again, allow me to say, congratulations on doing the most important thing in life and that is accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour! For more information to help you grow in your newfound faith in Christ, go to Gospel Light and read “What To Do After You Enter Through the Door”. Jesus Christ said in John 10:9, “I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.”

If you accepted Jesus Christ as your Savior today, please email me at and let us know. There is some free material that we want to send you. If you have a prayer request, please e-mail that to us as well, and we will pray for you until you tell us to stop.

God loves you. We love you. And may God bless you.
