TEXT: Revelation 22:10-13

10 And he saith unto me, Seal not the sayings of the prophecy of this book: for the time is at hand.

11 He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still.

12 And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.

13 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.

The Free State of Glory (Part 32)

At the end of the Revelation, the angel gives John a command. He says, “Seal not the sayings of the prophecy of this book: for the time is at hand.” Revelation has typically been seen as a book of mystery and hidden meanings, hard to understand and apply to real life. In the Old Testament, prophets such as Daniel were commanded to “shut up the vision: for it shall be for many days.” But John is told not to seal up the vision, but to let it remain open for all to see. Why? Because “the time is at hand.”

God is not trying to hide the events of the end times from us. He wants us to know what is about to happen so we can be prepared. For the Christian, this means being conscious of what is going on in the world, and, most importantly, living in such a way that he is ready for Christ to come at any moment. Revelation also serves as a warning for the world in the end times — that the window is closing for it to repent and get right with God.

This is further emphasized in the angel’s next words: “He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still.” The idea here is that with the abundance of warnings against the wicked and blessings for the righteous in Revelation, those who have not come over to God’s side will likely not do so. They have wasted their time. There is nothing more that can be said to persuade them. John Walvoord said, “If the warnings of this book are not sufficient, there is no more that God has to say.”

We know from the Old Testament that God is long-suffering and that He will delay judgment a long time. But, after He has said and done all that He will say and do, He leaves it up to people to decide. It is sad, but by this point, it is likely that those who are unjust and filthy have made up their minds to remain as they are. They will not change no matter what type of warning they receive. Likewise, those who are righteous and holy will be ready to meet the Lord when He comes. May we all decide now to be of the latter disposition.

Bob Dylan, the recently awarded Nobel prize-winning songwriter, wrote a song titled, “Are You Ready?”

Are you ready to meet Jesus?
Are you where you ought to be?
Will He know you when He sees you
Or will He say, “Depart from Me”?

When destruction cometh swiftly
And there’s no time to say farewell,
Have you decided whether you want to be
In heaven or in hell?

Have you got some unfinished business?
Is there something holding you back?
Are you thinking for yourself
Or are you following the pack?

Are you ready for the judgment?
Are you ready for that terrible sword?
Are you ready for Armageddon?
Are you ready for the day of the Lord?

I hope that you are ready for the day of the Lord. And if you aren’t, I invite you to get ready today by placing your faith and trust in Jesus Christ for the salvation of your soul from sin and from Hell. Allow me to show you how you can do that right now.

First, accept the fact that you are a sinner, and that you have broken God’s law. The Bible says in Romans 3:23: “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.”

Second, accept the fact that there is a penalty for sin. The Bible states in Romans 6:23: “For the wages of sin is death…”

Third, accept the fact that you are on the road to hell. Jesus Christ said in Matthew 10:28: “And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.” Also, the Bible states in Revelation 21:8: “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.”

Now that is bad news, but here’s the good news. Jesus Christ said in John 3:16: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” Just believe in your heart that Jesus Christ died for your sins, was buried, and rose from the dead by the power of God for you so that you can live eternally with Him. Pray and ask Him to come into your heart today, and He will.

Romans 10:9 & 13 says, “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved… For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

If you believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross for your sins, was buried, and rose from the dead, and you want to trust Him for your salvation today, please pray with me this simple prayer: Holy Father God, I realize that I am a sinner and that I have done some bad things in my life. I am sorry for my sins, and today I choose to turn from my sins. For Jesus Christ sake, please forgive me of my sins. I believe with all of my heart that Jesus Christ died for me, was buried, and rose again. I trust Jesus Christ as my Savior and I choose to follow Him as Lord from this day forward. Lord Jesus, please come into my heart and save my soul and change my life today. Amen.

If you just trusted Jesus Christ as your Saviour, and you prayed that prayer and meant it from your heart, I declare to you that based upon the Word of God, you are now saved from Hell and you are on your way to Heaven. Welcome to the family of God! Congratulations on doing the most important thing in life and that is receiving Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour.
