King of a Different Kingdom (Just Jesus Evangelistic Campaign, Day 67)

JJMessage

TEXT: John 6:11-15

11 And Jesus took the loaves; and when he had given thanks, he distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to them that were set down; and likewise of the fishes as much as they would.

12 When they were filled, he said unto his disciples, Gather up the fragments that remain, that nothing be lost.

13 Therefore they gathered them together, and filled twelve baskets with the fragments of the five barley loaves, which remained over and above unto them that had eaten.

14 Then those men, when they had seen the miracle that Jesus did, said, This is of a truth that prophet that should come into the world.

15 When Jesus therefore perceived that they would come and take him by force, to make him a king, he departed again into a mountain himself alone.

———-

Today, I am continuing the daily Just Jesus Evangelistic Campaign sermon series, which is aimed at sharing the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ with unbelievers and reminding Christians, in this important election year, to keep the main thing the main thing — and that is reaching unbelievers with the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ and praying for their salvation, for the problem in America is not only disobedient presidents, politicians, and people, but disobedient pastors, preachers, and parishioners who have refused to obey the Lord’s Great Commission which is to, “Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.” and who have refused to obey God’s repeated commands to “pray without ceasing” for unbelievers, believers, and political leaders. Yes, you should pray for the right candidate to win; yes, you should vote for the candidate that the Lord gives you peace about voting for. But, don’t get caught up in it like the world does. Nothing much is going to change until people get saved and get their hearts right with the Lord.

This campaign is inspired by the following three verses: 1 Corinthians 2:2 which says, “For I determined not to know anything among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.” Acts 5:42 which says, “And daily in the temple, and in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ.” And 2 Timothy 2:4 which says, “No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.”

This series is not for Christians necessarily. However, I do hope you are one of those saints who still loves to hear the “Old, old story of Jesus and His love” — As another hymn says, “For those who know it best Seem hungering and thirsting to hear it like the rest.” This series is primarily for unbelievers, so they can hear and understand the Gospel and be saved from sin and the punishment of sin which is hell. This is message number 67.

Leon Morris said, “He who is already King has come to open His kingdom to men; but in their blindness men try to force Him to be the kind of king they want; thus they fail to get the king they want, and also lose the Kingdom He offers.”

After multiplying the food for the 5,000, Jesus commands His disciples to pick up the leftovers “that nothing be lost” or wasted. These “fragments that remained” were not scraps; they made up twelve baskets full of real food. It was as if Jesus wanted to underline for each of His disciples that they should never doubt His provisions.

It was at this point that the people finally fully realized what had just taken place. They realized that Jesus had just fed all of them out of thin air. They were reminded of the similar experiences of their forefathers in the wilderness — manna coming down from Heaven each day to feed them; quail dropping out of the sky so they could eat; water bursting forth from a rock to quench their thirst. They recalled Moses’ words in Deuteronomy that a prophet just like him would arise from among them. Along with the other miracles they had seen Jesus worked, they had an epiphany — “This is of a truth that prophet that should come into the world.”

Obviously, in their minds, such a person would make a great king. Jesus, being God knew, that the people had reached this conclusion among themselves. It was only a matter of time before they moved to carry it out. So, “When Jesus therefore perceived that they would come and take him by force, to make him a king, he departed again into a mountain himself alone.”

The Jews already had no love for the Roman government. The majority of the common Jews also disliked the religious leaders with their hypocrisy and constant holier-than-thou demeanor. Here they had Jesus, a miracle-worker, who always put others before himself, thinking of their needs before his own. Jesus was the perfect candidate to be a king of Israel.

However, these people only loved Jesus for what He had done for them, and what they thought He could continue to do for them. They missed the real reason why Jesus had come and the real reason why Jesus worked such miracles as they had seen. Jesus wanted to be their King — but, for the time being, He wanted to be the king of a different kingdom. He wanted to be the King of Hearts.

Many times, we, just like the Jews, only want Jesus for what we think He can do for us. We fail to realize that God sent Jesus into the world and into our lives with a specific purpose — “to seek and to save those who are lost.” Yes, He came to “heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised.” But, He also came to heal those whose hearts have been broken by sin, to deliver those whose lives have been held captive by the devil, to open the eyes of those who have been blinded by false doctrine, and to set free those who are already bound and on their way to Hell.

That was Jesus’ agenda then, and it is still His agenda now. Will you get on board with His plan for your life? Will you allow Him to be the king of your heart today? If so, here is how.

First, accept the fact that you are a sinner, and that you have broken God’s law. The Bible says in Romans 3:23: “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.”

Second, accept the fact that there is a penalty for sin. The Bible states in Romans 6:23: “For the wages of sin is death…”

Third, accept the fact that you are on the road to hell. Jesus Christ said in Matthew 10:28: “And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.” Also, the Bible states in Revelation 21:8: “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.”

Now that is bad news, but here’s the good news. Jesus Christ said in John 3:16: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” Just believe in your heart that Jesus Christ died for your sins, was buried, and rose from the dead by the power of God for you so that you can live eternally with Him. Pray and ask Him to come into your heart today, and He will.

Romans 10:9-13 says, “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

Dear friend, if you are willing to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ for salvation, please pray with me this simple prayer: Heavenly Father, I realize that I am a sinner and that I have done some bad things in my life. For Jesus Christ sake, please forgive me of my sins. I now believe with all of my heart that Jesus Christ died for me, was buried, and rose again. Lord Jesus, please come into my heart and save my soul and change my life today. Amen.

If you believed in your heart that Jesus Christ died on the cross, was buried, and rose again, allow me to say, congratulations on doing the most important thing in life and that is accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour!
