Life Under the 1,000-year Reign of Jesus Christ, Part 3 — The Future Wars of the Nations, Part 14

TEXT: Isaiah 2:1-4

1 The word that Isaiah the son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem.

2 And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the Lord’s house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it.

3 And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.

4 And he shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people: and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.

Life Under the 1,000-year Reign of Jesus Christ, Part 3 — The Future Wars of the Nations (Part 14)

So far, in this part of our series, we have looked at five aspects of the 1,000-year reign of Christ as shown in the Bible. Of course, there are many blessings and benefits that will take place on earth during the Millennial Kingdom. We are looking at a few of the major ones that were made plain in Scripture. We have already seen that the following will take place:

1. During the 1,000-year reign of Christ, Jesus Christ will be the supreme ruler of the earth.

2. During the 1,000-year reign of Christ, Jerusalem will be the capital of the world.

3. During the 1,000-year reign of Christ, there will be no more war.

4. During the 1,000-year reign of Christ, nature will be in harmony once again.

5. During the 1,000-year reign of Christ, Israel will finally gain the security that she has long sought.

John MacArthur said, “When Jesus returns, he will reconfigure the world. Eden will be restored. Paradise will be regained. This renovated earth will become the place where Jesus rules. He will sit on the throne of David in the city of Jerusalem, that great city from which He will rule the world. He will truly be the God of that age, and the whole world, in all of its economics, all of its labor, all of its social life, all of its morality, and all of its understanding, learning, opinions, thoughts, ideas, and concepts, will reflect the mind of Christ. It will be the opposite of a world like ours, which has as the god of this age Satan and everything in it reflecting him. It is this very utopia, this golden age that men have longed for. From the remotest point of antiquity, men have dreamed of a golden age, they have longed for a utopia. They have written about it. They have desired an age of righteousness, an age of peace, an age when oppression would cease and injustice would be gone and war would end. Poets have written of it, singers have sung of it, politicians have promised to bring it, prophets have predicted it, and the world has cried for it. But it doesn’t come until Jesus comes Himself.”

As we conclude this part of our series, let’s look at two more aspects of the 1,000-year reign of Christ on Earth.

First, during the 1,000-year reign of Christ, the people of earth will be devoted to God. Zechariah 13 reads, “In that day there shall be a fountain opened to the house of David and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem for sin and for uncleanness. And it shall come to pass in that day, saith the Lord of hosts, that I will cut off the names of the idols out of the land, and they shall no more be remembered: and also I will cause the prophets and the unclean spirit to pass out of the land… they shall call on my name, and I will hear them: I will say, It is my people: and they shall say, The Lord is my God.”

Today, many people are worshiping everything other than God. Some worship money; some worship success; some worship celebrities; in this political season, some people (and, sadly, some Christians) have raised political candidates and political parties to the level of idol-worship. During the Tribulation, people will worship a man who sits in the rebuilt Temple and declares himself to be God. It will seem as if the whole world has gone off to worship something other than God. We often pray for revival and reformation in our land. We pray for another Great Awakening, and that people would turn back to God. That kind of wholesale repentance and turning back to God will not likely happen on this side of history. But, it will happen in the Millennial Kingdom. Everyone will acknowledge the one, true God and worship Him.

Then, finally during the 1,000-year reign of Christ, saints will be given roles of responsibility in the governmental administration of the Lord Jesus Christ. We touched a little on this a couple of weeks ago. First Corinthians 6:2 reads, “Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world?” In his commentary on Revelation, Dr. Anthony C. Gardner said, “Revelation mentions resurrected saints who rule and reign with Christ. Many other passages, both in the Old Testament and New Testament, indicate the saints will co-rule with their Lord. Isaiah indicates a coming righteous reign where princes will rule with Messiah.” The Prophet Daniel wrote, “And the kingdom and dominion, and the greatness of the kingdom under the whole heaven, shall be given to the people of the saints of the most High, whose kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and all dominions shall serve and obey him.”

It won’t be all fun and games in the Millennial Kingdom. We won’t just be there to have a good time. Jesus Christ will once again be on earth to be about His Father’s business. And He will have work for us to do on His behalf. Part of that work will be helping Jesus administrate His government and judge disputes that arise between people.

These details regarding the 1,000-year reign of Jesus Christ remind us that God is a God who cannot lie. Certain promises were made in Scripture to Jews and to Gentile Christians that have yet to be fulfilled. Those promises will be fulfilled when Jesus returns to rule over a real, physical, world-wide empire. With Satan gone and Jesus on the throne, the desire of the Jews for peace and safety in their own land will finally be fulfilled. And the prayers of Christians down through the years will be fully answered — “Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on Earth as it is in Heaven.”

If you are with us today, and you do not know the Lord Jesus Christ as your Savior, allow me to share with you how you can trust Him for salvation so that you can be ready for His return.

First, accept the fact that you are a sinner, and that you have broken God’s law. The Bible says in Romans 3:23: “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.”

Second, accept the fact that there is a penalty for sin. The Bible states in Romans 6:23: “For the wages of sin is death…”

Third, accept the fact that you are on the road to hell. Jesus Christ said in Matthew 10:28: “And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.” Also, the Bible states in Revelation 21:8: “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.”

Now that is bad news, but here’s the good news. Jesus Christ said in John 3:16: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” Just believe in your heart that Jesus Christ died for your sins, was buried, and rose from the dead by the power of God for you so that you can live eternally with Him. Pray and ask Him to come into your heart today, and He will.

Romans 10:9 & 13 says, “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved… For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

If you believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross for your sins, was buried, and rose from the dead, and you want to trust Him for your salvation today, please pray with me this simple prayer: Holy Father God, I realize that I am a sinner and that I have done some bad things in my life. I am sorry for my sins, and today I choose to turn from my sins. For Jesus Christ sake, please forgive me of my sins. I believe with all of my heart that Jesus Christ died for me, was buried, and rose again. I trust Jesus Christ as my Savior and I choose to follow Him as Lord from this day forward. Lord Jesus, please come into my heart and save my soul and change my life today. Amen.

If you just trusted Jesus Christ as your Saviour, and you prayed that prayer and meant it from your heart, I declare to you that based upon the Word of God, you are now saved from Hell and you are on your way to Heaven. Welcome to the family of God! Congratulations on doing the most important thing in life and that is receiving Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour.
