TEXT: Isaiah 2:1-4

1 The word that Isaiah the son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem.

2 And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the Lord’s house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it.

3 And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.

4 And he shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people: and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.

Life Under the 1,000-year Reign of Jesus Christ, Part 1 — The Future Wars of the Nations (Part 12)

In our last message, we talked about how the Millennial Kingdom will be set up after Christ defeats the forces of the Antichrist at the battle of Armageddon. With Satan bound and imprisoned for 1,000 years, Jesus Christ will “rule the nations with a rod of iron.”

Scripture does not give us many details regarding the 1,000-year reign of Christ in the book of Revelation. John paints the Millennium with a broad brush. However, we find glimpses of what this glorious time will be like as we read the Old Testament prophets. Many of the events described by the prophets have yet to be fulfilled, and they will only be fulfilled when Jesus Christ returns to this earth and sets up His kingdom.

Today, we are going to look at a number of passages which tell us about the condition of the world during the 1,000-year reign of Jesus Christ. What does the Bible tell us about this future era?

1. During the 1,000-year reign of Christ, Jesus Christ will be the supreme ruler of the earth. Revelation 19:15 states that Jesus Christ comes with a sharp sword “that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron.” Every person and every nation in the world will be under the authority of Jesus Christ. There will be no rival rulers, there will be no political parties to join. Everyone will be under the rule of Jesus Christ. Dr. Tony Evans said, “Christ’s kingdom will be a theocracy, literally the ‘rule of God.’ No democracy here, no voting for your favorite candidate, no majority to carry the day. His authority will be absolute.”

2. During the 1,000-year reign of Christ, Jerusalem will be the capital of the world. Isaiah 2:2 reads, “It shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the Lord’s house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it.” Strangely, the holy city Jerusalem, the city of peace has been a point of conflict for the world down through the years. In the Millennial Kingdom, it will be the center of a new, peaceful world order. As you might recall, God made a promise to King David that one of his descendants would always sit on the throne in Jerusalem. Jesus Christ coming to reign from Jerusalem during the Millennium is the fulfillment of that promise.

3. During the 1,000-year reign of Christ, there will be no more war. Isaiah 2:4 reads, “And he shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people: and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.” Jesus Christ will set things straight when he comes. The conflicts that rage around the world will be settled. Militants and jihadists, such as we have today, will be unheard of. Military academies will shut down. The billions of dollars that nations spend on their armies will be redirected and spent on more beneficial things such as education, health, and helping the poor.

These details regarding the 1,000-year reign of Jesus Christ build up to the conclusion that one day, after Jesus returns, He will rule over a real, physical, world-wide empire on earth. The Millennial Kingdom is important because it will vindicate God in the eyes of the nations. Everyone will finally see that God’s way is right and best. The world has never before seen 100 years of peace, much less 1,000 years of peace. But with Satan gone and Jesus on the throne, the prayers of Christians down through the years will finally be fully answered — “Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on Earth as it is in Heaven.”

If you are with us today, and you do not know the Lord Jesus Christ as your Savior, allow me to share with you how you can trust Him for salvation so that you can be ready for His return.

First, accept the fact that you are a sinner, and that you have broken God’s law. The Bible says in Romans 3:23: “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.”

Second, accept the fact that there is a penalty for sin. The Bible states in Romans 6:23: “For the wages of sin is death…”

Third, accept the fact that you are on the road to hell. Jesus Christ said in Matthew 10:28: “And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.” Also, the Bible states in Revelation 21:8: “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.”

Now that is bad news, but here’s the good news. Jesus Christ said in John 3:16: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” Just believe in your heart that Jesus Christ died for your sins, was buried, and rose from the dead by the power of God for you so that you can live eternally with Him. Pray and ask Him to come into your heart today, and He will.

Romans 10:9 & 13 says, “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved… For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

If you believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross for your sins, was buried, and rose from the dead, and you want to trust Him for your salvation today, please pray with me this simple prayer: Holy Father God, I realize that I am a sinner and that I have done some bad things in my life. I am sorry for my sins, and today I choose to turn from my sins. For Jesus Christ sake, please forgive me of my sins. I believe with all of my heart that Jesus Christ died for me, was buried, and rose again. I trust Jesus Christ as my Savior and I choose to follow Him as Lord from this day forward. Lord Jesus, please come into my heart and save my soul and change my life today. Amen.

If you just trusted Jesus Christ as your Saviour, and you prayed that prayer and meant it from your heart, I declare to you that based upon the Word of God, you are now saved from Hell and you are on your way to Heaven. Welcome to the family of God! Congratulations on doing the most important thing in life and that is receiving Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour.
