Our key Bible passage today is 1 John 2:15: “Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.”

Our lesson today is titled “The Dangers of Loving the World, Part 2”

In our last lesson, we learned about the world system which the devil has set up in opposition to God’s rule in the earth. The devil uses this system to entangle humans and keep them from seeing themselves as sinners in need of a Savior.

The Lord Jesus came into the world to deliver us from the power of Satan. Though He was in the world, He was not of it; that is, He was not a part of Satan’s world-system. He said in John 14:30, “the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me (that is, hath no power over me).”

Satan did come to tempt Jesus, but Jesus overcame him and his world-system. Satan offered Jesus all the kingdoms of this world if He would only fall down and worship him, but Jesus refused this temptation. Instead, He chose to go to the cross, where He died for our sins.

On the third day, God raised Jesus up from the dead and gave Him all power in Heaven and in earth. God made Him to be the Head of a new creation.

Jesus Christ not only overcame Satan’s world-system, but He also delivered us from it. The Bible says that Jesus “gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father.”

How did Christ deliver us from the world? He delivered us from the world by His death on the cross. He not only died for us, but we died with Him. We were in Him when He died, we were in Him when He was buried, and we were in Him when He rose again as Head of the new creation. By our death, burial, and resurrection with Christ, we too have been delivered from Satan’s world-system. We are in the world, but we are not of it! The Bible reads in Colossians 1:12-13, “Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light: For He rescued us from the domain of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son.”

Although Jesus Christ has delivered us from Satan’s world-system, He wants us to remain in the world itself. He prayed to the Father, “I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil.”

Why has Jesus left us in the world? He has left us in the world that we might take the gospel to the unsaved. We have a message that can set people free from the power of Satan. The Christian who is faithfully witnessing for his Lord can be the means of winning many people to the Lord Jesus Christ. This means that we are a threat to Satan’s kingdom; therefore, Satan hates us and tries to destroy us. You can understand now why we say that the Christian life is warfare.

What is Satan’s strategy against us as Christians? Satan’s strategy is to make us of no effect in the battle against him. Satan wants to neutralize us so that we cannot fight effectively against him.

If the Lord tarries His coming and we live, we will look at how Satan fights the Christian in the world and how we can fight back in our next class.

If you do not know Jesus Christ as your Saviour, John 3:16 states, “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

The Bible also says in Romans 10:9 and 13: “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved…. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

If you believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross for your sins, was buried, and rose from the dead, and you want to trust Him for your salvation today, please pray with me this simple prayer: Holy Father God, I realize that I am a sinner and that I have done some bad things in my life. I am sorry for my sins, and I want to turn from my sins. For Jesus Christ sake, please forgive me of my sins. I now believe with all of my heart that Jesus Christ died for me, was buried, and rose again. I trust Him as my Savior and follow Him as Lord from this day forward. Lord Jesus, please come into my heart and save my soul and change my life today. Amen.

If you just trusted Jesus Christ as your Saviour, and you prayed that prayer and meant it from your heart, I declare to you that based upon the Word of God, you are now saved from Hell and you are on your way to Heaven. Welcome to the family of God! I want to congratulate you on doing the most important thing in life and that is receiving Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour. Until next time, May the Lord Bless You!
